MINISTER OF MUSIC POSITION
FUNCTION:
The Minister of Music is responsible for developing, planning, conducting, scheduling, and evaluating the music ministry of the church. This position should require a minimum of 40 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Direct the planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluation of a comprehensive music ministry including choirs and vocal and instrumental ensembles with a variety in types of music presented.
2. Work with soloists, ensembles, and instrumentalists regarding the selection and appropriateness of their music.
3. Lead worship through congregational singing.
4. Coordinate the schedule for worship service accompanists and special music, and secure replacements in their absence.
5. Train leaders and accompanists for the church music ministry.
6. Coordinate with the Senior Pastor in planning all worship services. This may periodically include the use of drama, multimedia, and other means of enhancing worship.
7. Lead in planning and promoting a graded choir program; direct and coordinate the work of the lay choir directors; direct adult choir and other choirs as needed.
8. Serve as a member of the Church Council.
9. Coordinate the church music program with the church calendar and with the emphasis of the church.
10. Work with the sound, lighting, and multimedia technicians.
11. Consult with the pastor regarding necessary music preparations for church related activities. (weddings, funerals, etc.)
12. Assist in the pastoral ministries of visitation and counseling as the need is known.
13. Participate in the weekly visitation program.
14. Promote choir camps, workshops, clinics, and programs for the various choirs.
15. Cooperate with Associational, State, and SBC leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest.
16. Supervise the maintenance of and additions to the music library, providing musical materials, supplies, instruments, and other musical equipment for use in the church music program.
17. Keep informed on current music methods, materials, and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.
18. Recommend the financial needs of the music ministry to the Stewardship Committee, and, following established church procedures, be responsible for the expenditures of the music ministry.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
Education: College and seminary education preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one year of successful experience in music ministry preferred.
Calling: Called to full-time music ministry.
Computer: Must have a working knowledge of using PowerPoint.

Additional Information
Northcliffe is a 26 year old church.
The average morning worship attendance is 1,100 (we
have
two morning worship services in our 1,000 seat Worship Center).
The average Life Group (Sunday School) attendance is
550.
The Senior Pastor, Jerry Waugh, age 50, has been at
Northcliffe for 22 years and is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.
Additionally, we have a Minister of Education,
Minister of
Students, Minister of Care, Minister of Children, Preschool
Coordinator, and Minister of Outreach.
Spring Hill, located in west central Florida, is
less than an
hour from Tampa or Orlando. It is a fast growing community of about
80,000 in population.
Our church family is almost equally balanced with the
different age groups. The median age of our church
family is 47.
Our present style of worship would probably best be described as blended worship. We sing both hymns and newer songs. We use PowerPoint presentations for the songs we sing.
